It’s no secret. The Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago Cubs in the 3rd game. But I was there and so I feel personally cheated. I mean, we got up at 4 in the morning. We drove 4.5 hours to Detroit. We made a sidetrip through suburbia and then the Detroit Ghetto all thanks to Whittney the evil GPS to see this game. And the weather was hot! 93 degrees hot. Don’t get me wrong, I grew up in the desert. That doesn’t mean I’m not smart enough to get out of the sun! But all of us baseball fans were exactly that. Dumb. We sat in the sun and we poured sweat. And it all started out so well! We scored 3 runs in the 1st inning. Then we scored another in the 4th. Then we handed the game over to the Tigers and let them not only let them catch up, we let them get ahead!
Don’t get me wrong. We got back one run in the 9th, but it just wasn’t enough. So we lost. And all sad, we got back to the car and attempted to head home only to be stuck in traffic around Detroit for the next 2 hours. Eventually we got back into the suburbs and started making better time. And we found a Tim Horton’s and got our bagel fix. (If you’ve never had a Tim Horton’s bagel, you don’t know what your missing. They’re like a drug. You can never have enough!!!) But it still took us 7.5 hours to get back home to Chicago.
Detroit, you done us wrong.
